The Ecomemoria Project was born from the necessity to keep alive the memory of the victims of the Chilean military dictatorship. This living memorial takes form in the process of planting a native tree for each of the victims. This process will take place, in its first phase, by planting trees in Europe, Australia and the Americas, thus creating a "virtual forest" across the planet. Its final aim is to plant a forest of trees, consisting of a native-tree for each of the victims, in a pre-determined area of Chile, with the participation of the local communities, human rights and ecological groups.

..a tree for each memory

each memory for a life,

a life in each tree,

reforesting the planet

                                   sowing a new conscience

The Ecomemoria Project is an integral part of the Human Rights International Project - London, an organization that works against human rights violations and to put an end to impunity in Chile. Ecomemoria is closely linked to another program of our organization: Memoria Viva, www.memoriaviva.com, to ensure that each tree that is planted for each victim, is linked to the person's story, including historical and personal information.
